Turf Warehouse installed a new artificial grass installtion for a customer based in Paisley, Glasgow.

Project Details:

– 70sqm of artficial lawn
– Very mucky existing gorund had to be completely removed
– Lots of extra hardcore to firm up the ground in preparation for laying the new artificial lawn
– Use of sumps to address drainage issues

Customer concerns:

Customer had moved into the house fairly recently and as with many new build houses, the garden was just a big pile of muck. The area in concern was drenched in mucky soil. The puddles were quite deep in places and had never properly dried out.

“It was clear to us that this wasn’t your normal everyday job and we’d probably required some type of drainage installed before laying artificial grass” 

Company Undertaking:

A very mucky mess area full of sludge, this project needed a bit more time and consideration to make sure the excess water issue was addressed prior to the installation of the artificial lawn.

As the area in question laid around 6-8 inches from the existing decking and it was boxed off, we suggested that most of the existing soil was removed and from there we built the garden up using a large amount of hardcore.

This approach in itself is referred to as a large sump, which simply allows all the water to filter down through the fake grass and from there it just drains away naturally without it ever lying at the top of the grass area (a lot cheaper and quicker that having to put field drains).

I cant really give enough positive input about my artificial grass, and the way the company dealt with the drainage issue. The guys were so good and polite, not what I’ve experienced from tradesmen in the past.

The job is utterly amazing, so much better than I could have imagined prior to work and now I have the perfect maintenance free artificial grass in my garden. There’s been torrential rain since the installation and not a drop of water to be seen, couldn’t have asked for more.

On a personal note I would like to thank Steph, and his team of installers for having to work in such a messy area and ensuring I ended up with my perfect garden.
